BART to Silicon Valley is about more than getting from one place to another. It will create more options for where we live, work and play. The project will connect Silicon Valley residential, employment and education centers to the rest of the region and offer a new transit option for many who spend long hours in commuter traffic.

Connects to VTA light rail and buses, Caltrain, ACE, Capitol Corridor, Amtrak and Greyhound
Potential future connection to an Automated People Mover (APM) to Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport and High Speed Rail
Provides a new transit option for no-car or limited income households and citizens with disabilities
Serves three international airports (Mineta San Jose International, Oakland International and San Francisco International)

Increases transit options to support local and regional growth
Moves the most people to major job centers when compared to other transit alternatives (104,000 additional daily boardings on BART are expected by 2030)
Supports new jobs and housing around stations
Creates new construction jobs (15,000 jobs per year, of which 45% will be local)

Improves links to cultural, entertainment and sports venues
Increases mobility to retail centers, schools and universities

Reduces smog and takes cars off the road (145 million fewer vehicle miles traveled annually)
